GLOBAL REGISTER OF MIGRATORY SPECIES

 

The "Global Register of Migratory Species" is a database of migratory vertebrate species, with digital maps in GIS format for 600 species. Maps are compatible with any geographical information system (GIS), which allows geographic queries and threat analysis by intersection with other GIS layers. It has been published as CD-ROM and as a book, which contains first results from a global analysis of threat status, maps for 90 species in printed format, and a complete printed list of migratory mammals, birds and reptiles. Parts of the database are accessible on www.groms.de, with migratory species fact sheets containing maps and descriptions of migratory behaviour.
