Founded in August 1977, as an organization to uphold international
conservation laws, treaties, and regulations through the
investigation, documentation, and enforcement of these laws and
conventions. The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society is not and has
never been a protest organization. The Society opposes illegal
activities such as pirate whaling, poaching, unlawful habitat
destruction, and violations of established law, as defined by
international law enforcement bodies and the SSCS Mandate.
