Founded in 1956 by a small group of palm enthusiasts The Palm
Society has grown to have thousands of members in 81 countries.
The name was changed to the International Palm society in the
early 1980s to reflect the world-wide membership.
Members come from many different walks of life - some are
scientists, medical doctors, truck drivers, commercial plant
growers, salesmen, accountants - drawn together with the common
purpose of exchanging information about palms.
